ALICJA PILARCZYK
is a Polish violinist living in Basel, Switzerland. Specialised in contemporary art, she has always pursued the way to fascinate people and connect with them through music.
She is the founder and the member of Concept Store Quartet (Basel). As a freelance violinist she works with Ensemble Modern Orchestra, Ensemble Neuverband, Ensemble Interface and other. In 2022 she was the member of Kairos Quartet and in 2019-2020 she was the guest 1st violin of Ligeti Quartet. Since 2015 she has been an assistant at the Academy of Arts in Szczecin (PL).
Having studied with prof. Tadeusz Gadzina, dr Patrycja Piekutowska or Bartłomiej Nizioł she holds diplomas of the music academies and universities in Szczecin, Warsaw and Bern. Between 2014 and 2015 she was a participant of International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankurt am Main and in 2019 she graduated from Contemporary Music Program at the Music Academy in Basel under support of Mike Svoboda.
Her love to theatre, dance and visual arts shows in several projects she has been involved in. In 2023 she premiered a music theatre monodram "Corpuscule" based on her research in Kenya and collaboration with Emilia Łapko, Justyna Celeda and Katherine Newton. She created an artistic project "Soliloquy" together with Nieszka Bogusławska (dance) and Katherine Newton (mixed media arts), that resulted in a short film and an interactive performance. In 2019 she was invited to a project with Berlin-based Japanese artist Leiko Ikemura at the Kunstmuseum Basel. In the season 2017-18 she was a part of performance NOMOZART, premiered at Lucerne Festival, with which she has successfully toured around Europe. Between 2015 and 2017 she was co-leading with prof. Robert Knuth the course "Experimental Music and Art in Public Space".
As a soloist, guest musicians and memeber of several ensembles she took part in festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Lucerne Festival, Barnes Festival in Philadelphia or Darmstadt Summer Course. As the member of International Ensemble Modern Academy she performed on festivals such as Wittener Musitage fur Neue Kammermusik (Witten, Germany), Ruhrtriennale (Ruhr district, Germany), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Utrecht, the Netherlands), ManiFest (Paris, France), cresc..! Festival (Frankfurt, Germany), Acht Bruecken Festival (Cologne, Germany) or GLOBALE in ZKM_Kubus (Karlsruhe, Germany).
Beside her individual and chamber work, she is the member of Zürcher Symphoniker and Basel Sinfonietta. She also frequently performs with Anima Eterna Brugge.
Beside performance she is a passionate teacher. Since 2015 she has been a teacher of contemporary music performance and violin at the Academy of Arts in Stettin, Poland. In Switzerland she has her private studio "Little Violin School", where she works with youngest violin pupils as well as adults. She frequently works as a substitute teacher in Music Academy Basel, Musich School Birsfelden and other.
